What is a financial plan?

A financial plan is the financial part of your business plan: a realistic estimate of revenue, costs, investments and especially cashflow. It helps test feasibility and convince banks/partners/investors.

When is it required?

For certain company forms (e.g. BV, NV and CV) a financial plan is required and is typically deposited with the notary at incorporation. It can become relevant if the company goes bankrupt within 3 years.

Typical building blocks (as per Xerius)

1) Activity (revenue & costs)

2) Investment & financing plan

3) Liquidity plan (cashflow)
